DULUTH – The Minnesota Dental Association and Minnesota Dental Foundation announce upcoming Minnesota Missions of Mercy (MnMOM) events. This free two-day dental clinic will be held Thursday and Friday, June 7-8 at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC).

The charity mission initiative aims to provide free dental care to those in need. Dental professionals, volunteers and community partners will come together to provide services including cleanings, fillings, root canals on some teeth, extractions, pediatric dentistry, oral hygiene instruction and a limited number of temporary partial dental appliances. This event is a lifeline for individuals who lack dental insurance or face barriers to accessing dental care.

Volunteer registration is now open. Dental professionals and community members interested in volunteering can register at www.mndental.org/events/mission-of-mercy.

At previous events, more than 10,000 patients received free dental procedures valued at nearly $6.8 million. Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation is this year’s signature sponsor – supporting the initiative for the eighth consecutive year.

There is no need to register in advance and patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 5:30 a.m., early arrival is encouraged as patients will be accepted daily until capacity is reached. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Patients will be given a check-in and release form to complete and undergo a brief health screening. No photo ID, Social Security number, or any other personal document is required. Complete dentures, molar root canal treatment, dental crowns, extraction of unexposed wisdom teeth, and dental implants are not provided.

MnMOM is entirely volunteer-run and donation-based. Monetary and in-kind gifts are critical to ensuring its success. To help pay for dental equipment and supplies, medicine and food needed for this event, more than $250,000 in cash and in-kind donations are needed.
