dupage county – The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) is proud to announce its participation in the annual Give a Child a Smile Day in conjunction with the American Dental Association (ADA). This year, the event will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the DuPage County Health Department.

On Give Kids a Smile Day, DCHD dentists will provide free dental exams for children (by appointment only). Tooth decay is common among U.S. children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Untreated tooth decay can cause pain, infection, and difficulties in children's daily lives, including eating, speaking, playing, and learning. Of note, children with poor oral health tend to miss more school and therefore may not learn as much as those who are able to stay in school.

The DuPage County Health Department Dental Clinic provides dental care to eligible school-age children. Interested parties are encouraged to call (630) 682-7776 to make an appointment and inquire more about available services.

Give Kids a Smile Day is a national initiative launched in 2003 by the American Dental Association (ADA). Every year, through the dedication of 40,000 volunteers, approximately 400,000 children benefit from more than 1,500 events across the country.

The DuPage County Health Department remains committed to promoting oral health and well-being within the community and encourages families to participate in Give Your Child a Smile Day to ensure their children’s dental health.
